Because of the continuously high traffic load, not only the road surface but also the markings applied to it are subjected to severe loads which consequently necessitate regular checking. The night visibility (RL, light density coefficient for retroreflection) and the day visibility (Qd, light density coefficient for diffuse illumination) can be quickly and precisely measured using the devices from Delta Light & Optics.
As well as the checking of road markings, the measurement of the night visibility of retro-reflective foils, such as those used on traffic signs and safety clothing, is increasing in importance. Delta Light & Optics has developed the devices in the RetroSign range for this purpose.
The devices are used not only for checking the traffic-related characteristics of applied markings or installed traffic signs, but also by manufacturers of marking materials and foils in the field of quality management and production monitoring.
