Video- and OCR/ANPR products

In the video processing and detection area, TDS cooperates with Neurosoft Sp. z.o.o from Wroclaw (PL). The systems and components are supplied via the TDS sales network under the Neurosoft-specific product names, or brought in as part of a joint range of services. The WIM systems for preselection, enforcement or technical equipping of commercial vehicle parking areas are mentioned here as examples.

The continuous development of video technology is opening up deployment opportunities for the automatic detection and recognition of vehicles. The combination of powerful cameras and intelligent software can now determine characteristics such as the make and colour of a vehicle. The use of the latest video processing technology increases the accuracy and reliability of the data that is acquired. Some of the main usage areas of video technology are:

The main objective is to establish the presence of a vehicle at a defined location. There are many deployment opportunities for this application – from traffic light control to safety-related solutions in which the hard shoulder on sections of the motorway and/or tunnels are monitored.

The recognition of vehicle number plates is used for automatic vehicle identification. It is not possible to implement travel time measurement and systems for measuring section speeds (section control) without ANPR. The NeuroCar system needs less than 40 ms to recognise a vehicle number plate, and takes the applicable national data protection laws into consideration.

The modern image recognition technology also makes it possible to carry out accurate vehicle classification using the MMR process (Make and Model Recognition). A distinction is made between five classes. The model and the colour can also be recognised with an extremely high degree of accuracy.

Other possible ways of using video technology are:
